Coming off of their first conference win this past weekend, the Women's Basketball team took to the road to play at the University of Wyoming, a DI program, at 4pm on December 12th. The Cougars fell to the Cowgirls by 29 points, with a final score of 62-33.
The Wyoming defense played lights out, completely shutting down the normally versatile Cougar offense. A third of the points for CCU came in the first quarter when they scored 11. The second quarter is what stung the most for CCU, as the Cowgirls outscored the Cougars 21 to 8.
Coming in to the second half, Wyoming slowed down offensively and allowed the Cougars to outscore them 10 to 8 in the third quarter. Sealing the win in the fourth quarter, the Cowgirls defense only allowed the Cougars to score four points.
Leading the Cougars in today's game both offensively and defensively was
Haley Shaner, who brought in 13 points, 7 rebounds, and a block.
The Cougars next game will be hosting the Mountain Lions of UCCS, who currently have a record of 1-3 in conference to match the Cougars. Tip-off is at 1pm on Saturday the 16th.
